February 20, 2012 Meeting Recap

The Las Vegas Media group met again for a great lunch and to hear Las Vegas High School alumni and long-time news correspondent Myram Borders tell some great stories of her “beat” years.  Myram reminded us all of the “good old” days when reporters had to “try and find a phone” in order to be the first to call in a great news story.  It was great to hear about her experiences.  The group had numerous questions for her and she generously answered all of them.  An interesting fact is that Myram was instrumental in getting the Open Meeting Law passed in Nevada.  It was also great to see Myram recognize several members of our group.

LVMG co-founder Frank Mitrani made a surprise appearance, as did a few other members we have not seen in a long time. Please don’t be strangers!  Come back and visit more often.  We had 47 people for lunch and our numbers just keep growing and growing.

Nevada History Project

Lisa made an announcement regarding the Nevada History Student LVMG Interview Project.  Several members will be interviewed by students in the coming weeks.  Lisa will contact each member individually to make arrangements and provide details.

Our next meeting takes place on March 19^th with none other than the Las Vegas icon, Thalia Dondero.  I sat next to Thalia at lunch this time and she shared just a few stories that had our table laughing, so her talk is sure to be a crowd pleaser.
